Syringes are used in many medical fields. Their designs are correspondingly diverse. In addition to flexible syringes, rigid cannulas are used.

In order to ensure that the patient is treated as gently as possible, syringes have become finer and finer over time. It is important that a certain breaking strength is maintained despite the fineness of the needle. This breaking strength is defined in DIN EN ISO 9626.

The DIN EN ISO 9626 standard refers to bending resistant cannula tubes made of stainless steel for the manufacture of medical products. A hypodermic needle consists of a tube of different lengths and various inner and outer diameters, and is bevelled and ground on one side. The breaking strength of hypodermic needles is determined according to the standard by means of a 2-point bending test. A 3-point bending device is used to test the stiffness of the cannula tube. The bending distance is selected depending on the fineness of the needle.

Injecta GmbH mainly manufactures such tubes and sections as well as standard and special needles made of stainless steel. Recently, they have been testing them in their laboratory at the company's location in Klingenthal with a universal testing machine Inspekt duo 10kN from Hegewald & Peschke. Pyramid jaws are used for clamping. The test is performed and evaluated with the testing software LabMaster. An existing bending bench at the customer Injecta can be used with the new universal testing machine.
