Tensile tests on plastics according to DIN EN 527-1 and component testing of medical technology

Tensile tests on plastics according to DIN EN 527-1 with a universal testing machine Inspekt-SA 100(20)kN

Testing of dialysis filter cartriges under temperature influence

The Fresenius Medical Care Deutschland GmbH offers products along the whole value added chain of the dialysis. For the testing of raw materials of the dialysis products as well as the medical components itself a Hegewald & Peschke universal testing machine Inspekt 100kN among others equipped with a temperature chamber is used.

On the one hand plastic tensile tests of the raw material according to DIN EN ISO 527-1 and under temperature terms are carried out.

On the other hand dialysis filter cartridges are tested as a complete component under temperature influence. The test procedure starts with driving the filter cartridges on a preload with the help of the block programme and formula editor of the testing software LabMaster. When the preload is reached the specimen is heated up in the chamber on a given temperature ramp. The filters extend at this juncture by the thermal expansion coefficient. The whole test process is recorded and evaluated with the help of graphics and the raw data. Due to different testing modes of the universal testing machine on the one hand the length of the expansion of the filter cartridge under temperature can be determined (load=0). On the other hand, it is possible to find out whether the specimen of the load bears up under the expansion or breaks (stroke=0).

In another testing method the single filter fibers of the cartridge are loaded on tension.
