In December, the University of Applied Sciences Ostwestfalen-Lippe in Lemgo has officially dedicated and commissioned a new machine for the materials testing laboratory of the Machine Engineering and Mechatronics field. The machine was developed by Hegewald & Peschke MPT GmbH according to the special requirements of the University.
The complex universal testing machine combines the testing tasks of various individual units. It is based on an Inspekt 250 kN universal testing machine and features a main compartment with a temperature testing oven for hot tensile tests up to 1300 °C as well as a lateral testing compartment with a chamber for tensile tests at temperatures from -40 °C to 250 °C. In addition, the machine is equipped with a video extensometer working in non-contact mode and is intended for especially sensitive specimens. Three load cells (5, 50 and 250 kN) as well as three extensometers, one of them a hot tensile test extensometer, are available for the various tests. This allows performing tensile, compression and flexure tests on materials such as plastic or metal, at different temperatures and forces. The machine is used for research, development and instruction.
